How to Turn a Blue Sky to Black in Photoshop.
Sometimes in architectural images, they look great in monochrome with a black sky. There are many ways to do this, but this way is dead easy as long as there are no other blues in the image. This way can be done by beginners to photoshop.
Open your image in photoshop. The brighter blue, the better this works.
You then want to add an adjustment layer which will convert your image to monochrome. Don’t worry if you don’t know what that means. I will show you quickly here.
At the bottom right of your screen in photoshop, there is this little ribbon. Click the icon that looks like a half light and half dark circle:
When you click that, a list will come up. You need to choose Black and White
Once you click that, your image will turn to monochrome. On the right-hand side of your Photoshop, you will get some sliders. You need to move your blue slider all the way to the left.
That should change your sky to black. (If your sky has different tones of blue, you might need to do this with the cyans slider as well)
This image below has only had the above change made. It worked well because of the bright blue of the sky.
Don’t be afraid to play with the other colour sliders as well to change your tones in the new monochrome version of your image!
