The Oak Tree and the Orchid
The Oak Tree and The Orchid
“Mistress Orchid, my dear Lady,
you are so delicate and fair.
Let me please embrace you
and keep you in my care.
“My arms are strong and sturdy
and my roots are stable and deep.
Your weight is but a whisper
which I can easily keep.
“Your folds are soft and fragile,
a footfall would you crush!
Oh Lady, I am entranced by
your modesty and blush.
“I long to love and cherish you,
and keep you near my heart.
I’d hate each single minute
if we were kept apart.
“I think you underestimate
your beauty and your charm.
Let me hold you and protect you,
keep you safe from harm
“Oh graceful, elegant Lady,
come to me this night!
My leaves they will conceal you,
keep you from danger’s sight
“Stay with me forever,
live here near my core.
My lady, you are The One,
the Lady I adore.”
“Lord Oak Tree, I am honoured
by your tender words of care.
Never once had I but realized
that you considered me fair!
“My skirts are soft and fragile
and I am not that strong.
I would love to nestle with you;
it is with you that I belong.
“You are so tall and handsome,
you protect and give out shade.
You dominate and provide
for creatures in this glade.
“I am delighted that you chose me
to live there at your side.
I would be most honoured
to be your blushing bride.
“I will cherish and adore you
from my lofty seat up high.
You will not know a lonely day
with me always nearby.
“Oh mighty, towering Lord
I’ll be with you before the dawn
and wrap myself around you,
we’ll be together by the morn.
“I’ll sit with you forever
and live here, near your core
You have always had my heart.
I will come to you, be sure!”
