This piece began with the concept of creating a surreal, almost otherworldly environment. The challenge was to build a landscape that was visually striking yet barren, with no land or trees—just glass and water. The model, Amy is Weirdd, was the perfect fit for this vision, bringing a quiet, ethereal presence to the fantasy scene.
The first step was setting the scene. I used an upturned glass bowl from my mother-in-law’s collection to form the domed glass buildings. The lid of a perfume bottle became the inspiration for the spires, adding a unique architectural touch. The surface water, sourced from one of my photos of the sea, covers the ground halfway up the model’s feet, subtly integrating the element of water without overpowering the composition.
The small glass roses, also from my mother-in-law, were positioned at the model’s feet, creating delicate focal points amidst the stillness. The water itself was chosen to reflect the world’s fragility, with a lack of land emphasizing the theme of isolation.
I also incorporated a crystal ball to form a glass bubble around Amy, which added another layer of depth and an air of subtle mysticism to the scene.
This image is a composite of 9 photos, carefully blended to create the final piece, ensuring each element fit together seamlessly to bring this quiet, fragile world to life.
