I Love You

I Love You

The words used so often

they no longer have value,

their meaning lost.

So how then do I tell you?

I taste you in honey and in cream,

your flavour warms my mouth.

You are who taught me to savour

the taste of life.

You are warmer than the sun,

you are brighter than the stars,

you bring the light of eternal passion

into my life.

Your scent fills my nostrils.

I breathe you day and night.

You are the air, the breath

of my life.

The power of your hugs

and the touch of your hands

are the support and the strength

of my life.

You are my reason for breathing,

for tasting, for touching.

You are my joy, my soul, my passion.

You are my life

My words are weak and puny,

I cannot find the way to say…

In desperation, I resort to those

overused, simple, everyday words.

I love you.
