My fiancé, Andy, and I, booked a late afternoon, early evening shoot with Artemis Fauna at a secret garden location that she had sourced. It was quite a long drive for us, and took a couple of hours, so it meant booking a day’s holiday from work, but it was well worth it!
We started the afternoon off with a fashion shoot, and one of my images was photobombed by the gardener. It is a great fun image, but I am afraid I was too slow to grab the shot. The picture I have posted here is sadly, out of focus, but I had to put it in here anyway as it is so amusing. I like it.
We had great light, but, in some of the shots, I think the light was a little too great and clashed with the shadows. We got there though. It does mean some adjusting in post processing for the contrasts between the two.
We shot in a few parts of the garden, and of course, I had to steal a few shots of their lovely tortoise! He was in a pen in the middle of the lawn, enjoying the late afternoon sunshine. he was not in the least bit interest in me, and I had to become a contortionist of sorts to get down to his level, not fall into the pen, and get a clean shot of him.
One of the areas we shot in at the garden didn’t have amazing light, being out of the sun, but it was good natural light, even if it didn’t have the classic glow of the “golden hour”. We took a number of shots in this spot, taking turns, like all good mannered photographers are. Yes, we are good at taking turns when we work together! I was a bit naughty though. I couldn’t help myself! I took a portrait of Artemis whilst she was posing for Andy. Tsk, Tsk! I was standing there, waiting for my turn and as I looked over, I saw that there was a natural frame made with the branches of a young tree. I loved how it was framing Artemis face and how she looked at that moment, so I took the opportunity, and got my picture!
When the gardens closed to the public, we moved on to shoot art nude images. We had the freedom of the location, thanks to the kindness of the owners, and Artemis got on with the business of being Artemis! Anyone who has shot with her knows how amazingly professional she is, and how adept she is at her work.
The images I have come away with range from fantastic body shaping, classic art nude and sweet and quirky. The location is fabulous, and Artemis was her usual lovely, quirky, amazing self. I have so many images to choose from, that I simply have no idea how to whittle them down to choose the ones I want to process. I guess, over time, I am simply going to end up with a great number of them, and one thing is for sure… each and every one that I work on will be amazing thanks to my amazing model!
